Wild Mushroom and Mozzarella Risotto Ball
Pizza, pasta and more. No, this restaurant is not a fast food chain. I got the chance to eat at Tuscano Italian Wood Oven Pizza restaurant last June through an invitation of their PR. To be honest, I was quite hesitant because I was thinking it might be another Italianni’s. Good thing it’s not.
The restaurant opened in Dec 2011 and located near the Burgos Circle at the Bonifacio Global City.
We tried a lot of food (food tastings like these really serve lots of food!) but I guess I will highlight my favorite ones here.
For appetizers, the Wild Mushroom and Mozzarella Risotto Ball is a must-try. The risotto balls are nested in fresh tomato sauce. So good! If you’re a salad lover, try the Tuscano Salad. Its dressed with balsamic vinegar and have apple slices coated with cinnamon powder. If you like cottage cheese, try the Caprese salad.
Tuscano Signature Salad
Tuscano grills their pizza in a wood oven which makes pizza have that distinct smoky and wooden flavor.
Among all the pizzas that we tried in Tuscano, my favorite is Gamberetto because it has generous servings of shrimps and mushrooms. Heavenly!
Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza
Asparagus and Egg Pizza
Sweet Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza
The Sweet Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza seems interesting but it actually tasted good. I never realized that that sweetness of pears and the intensely flavored taste of gorgonzola can work.
Fisherman’s Seafood with Black Ink Pasta
Italian Sausage and Bolognese
Truffled Wild Mushrooms and Cream Linguine
I am a truffle and mushroom lover so my favorite among all the pastas we tasted is the Truffled Wild Mushroom and Cream Linguine.
Grilled Balsamic Glazed Bone-In Pork Chop
Crisp-Baked Norwegian Salmon and Risotto
As a salmon lover, I highly recommend the Crisp-Baked Norwegian Salmon and Risotto.
Beef Stew Casserole with Chocolate
Having beef and chocolate in one dish seem odd but actually this combination works. It may look like blood stew but it doesn’t taste like it. The chocolate gives a rich flavor compared to typical tomato sauce. I would not recommend eating it alone because you might get tired of its taste. Better to pair it with a pasta dish.
Inside the restaurant
The food tasting in Tuscano surely made us all full and reminded me that Italian food is not just pizza and pasta. We always tend to forget that there’s more to that.
