Classic Cuisine (C2): Familiar Filipino Dishes with a Twist

Aligue Rice at Classic Cuisine
Aligue Rice, 125 pesos per order

It was our first time at Classic Cuisine (also known as C2) at the Shanri-la Mall and I can’t believe why we haven’t tried that restaurant for the nth time of going to the mall. The restaurant is under the Cravings Group and after having tasted some of what they offer, I’ll be definitely going back there and try something new.

Lumpiang Hubad at Classic Cuisine
Lumpiang Hubad, 125 pesos per order

For our appetizer, we ordered Lumpiang Hubad. We weren’t expecting it to be this big. The serving size is good for 3 to 4 persons. The thick lumpia peanut sauce is already mixed with the vegetables in the bowl. It is served with fried lumpia wrappers on the side. Makes me think of nachos 🙂 .

Crispy Ribs Sinigang at Classic Cuisine
Crispy Ribs Sinigang, 350 pesos per order

We ordered Aligue Rice and Crispy Ribs Sinigang for our main course. At first, we were hesitant to order the Crispy Ribs Sinigang thinking that since it’s ribs, we might get a thin serving of beef. We were surprised to see how meaty it was. 😀 The ribs are deep fried served with the usual vegetables you’ll see on a typical Sinigang in a sizzling plate while the soup is served on a bowl. The soup has a thicker texture with a real tamarind taste. The Aligue Rice also has a hefty portion of “aligue”. Better be careful on Aligue Rice, it might zoom your cholesterol levels up high! 😉

Guinumis at Classic Cuisine
Guinumis, 80 pesos per order

For our dessert, we had Guinumis and Bibingka Souffle. I like the way they served the Guinumis. You can see the layers of sago, panucha syrup and coconut milk infused with crushed ice and the crispy pinipig toppings.

Bibingka Souffle at Classic Cuisine
Bibingka Souffle, 125 pesos per order

As for the Bibingka Souffle, it islight and fluffy. It also includes salted egg, keso de bola and toasted coconut. This dessert is a mixture of sweetness and saltiness in one. The custard-like taste sauce is served on the side and it would be recommended for you to pour the sauce while you get a portion of the bibingka. The Bibingka will melt in your mouth literally; no effort to chew on it. It’s a heavenly dessert that will make you want to have more.

Classic Cuisine has a great customer service based on our visit there. It would be better though if they have an enclosed restaurant in Shangri-La mall to provide a better ambiance.
