The temperature has been really high the past few days and I usually tend to look for something cold to eat or drink. Last Saturday, I went to SM The Block to try out Picket Fence Milk and Ice Cream Bar with Sharlyne and her Mom. It was actually our first time to try out their ice cream. I asked the crew some questions and I learned that their ice cream products are imported from Australia. I also learned that Picket Fence is a local brand and is not a franchise from Australia.
I’ve been seeing Roots Ginger Brew in the supermarket but I only got the chance to taste it during their launch at Outback Steakhouse in Glorietta this week. By its name, I already expected what it would taste like. If you are going to ask me, I would describe it as “Sparkling Salabat” (or sparkling ginger tea). Roots Ginger Brew is a carbonated drink, best to consume over ice or when it’s cold (SSBZ – Sparkling Salabat Below Zero). If it’s not cold, tendency is that it becomes too sweet for my palate. I finally explored the newest mall around my area and look at what I found? Jacob’s Shawarma now has a branch! They are famous for their Turkish doners so do not expect the typical Persian shawarma that you see around. Just saw the owner, Jacob, ensuring that the soft opening is running smoothly. 😉
They are located at the basement, foodcourt level.

Bulalo w Vegetables @ Php 400
The Tagaytay experience is not complete without eating Bulalo (clear bone marrow soup) I know there are a lot of restaurants in Tagaytay serve Bulalo however we had ours at Rose and Grace in Sta. Rosa, Laguna which around 15 km away from Tagaytay City proper. We know that Rose and Grace is already known for Bulalo but this is our first time to dine here.
Rose and Grace’s Bulalo is one of the best ones I have tasted to far. The bone was not too big compared to Leslie’s or even Josephine’s. Because the bone is not too big, there is bigger serving of meat. There are two important things which I think everybody looks for when eating Bulalo – the tenderness of the beef and the taste of the soup stock. Both of my pre-requisites for a great tasting Bulalo was satisfied. The beef was very tender and I did not have a hard time separating it from the bone. Every inch of beef was consumed by me and Karla like hyenas who were hungry for days. The soup stock was exquisite! It wasn’t too salty and I could really taste essence of the bone marrow. We like trying something unique so we agreed to the invitation of Toki Q to try their menu. Toki Q is a little barbeque place located in P.Guevarra corner Wilson Street in San Juan which uses a new technology called “rotating barbeque”. Yes, we got intrigued to this kind of technology, hence our curiosity led us to their turf.
