Peace and Happiness Dumpling House

Xiao Long Bao at Peace and Happiness Dimsum House

Xiao Long Bao @ PHP 95 (8 pieces)

A stressful week deserves a treat indeed! Mei, my officemate, told me about a newly opened Chinese restaurant in their condo called Peace and Happiness Dumpling House. She told me that it wasn’t the common Chinese restaurants seen in the malls (like North Park, Gloria Maris, etc…) so  I giddily probed more because this is my type of restaurant. This somewhat reminded me of Yen Yen, Mien San and Dong Bei.

Peace and Happiness Dumpling House is a small restaurant which has just recently opened (about 2 weeks ago) and serves North Eastern Chinese dishes. We went there on a Friday night and only have more than an hour left to order. We wanted to taste everything but of course, the four of us can only eat as much. Milk Tea Addict

I am a milk tea addict. Ever since I went to Singapore last year, I can’t stop drinking milk teas. I have been drinking milk teas way before but not as often when I came back from Singapore. Thanks to Ms. Google Earth Aileen Apolo – De Jesus who frequents to Singapore every quarter, I have the chance to have different kinds of instant milk teas. This time, she bought me a pack of Golden Kili. It’s not very sweet, a little bit bitter and just the way I like it. Aileen also has a Milk Tea blog called “Tea Completely” with Andrew Dela Serna. 🙂 Continue reading “Milk Tea Addict”

Manokan Country: The Inasal Mecca of Bacolod

Outside Manokan Country

It was our first trip to Bacolod and it won’t be complete without eating Chicken Inasal at Manokan Country. Manokan Country is like a food district that specializes in Chicken Inasal. Thus, all of the restaurants there offer Chicken Inasal. Eric of Byahilo recommended us to try either Aida’s or Nene’s.

Wee Nam Kee

Wee Nam Kee's kitchen

The market for Singaporean food is fast becoming popular here. Many Singapore based restaurants are now opening their branches here in Manila (such as Toast Box, Bread Talk, Ya Kun Kaya and many more), reaching out to Filipinos and even foreign nationals who are used to these restaurants / cafes in Singapore and one of which is Wee Nam Kee.

Wee Nam Kee has been an “institution” in the art of making Hainanese Chicken in Singapore. When news broke out that a branch of Wee Nam Kee will be opened here in Manila, Filipinos (and many others) who frequent the restaurant in Singapore were thrilled. This means that we can have Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken anytime we want to! Continue reading “Wee Nam Kee”

Danggit Bai! Danggit Buy!

Different Varieties of Dried Seafood in Taboan Market

Bai, do you know where to buy your danggit in Cebu? The best place to get them is at the Tabo-an Market because it’s cheaper to buy there rather than buying at the airport or groceries. I went there with my mom last March to buy some danggit and other pasalubong for our friends here in Manila. Didn’t bother to take a bath anymore before going there because we expected that we’ll smell like dried fish when we leave the market.Hehe. Continue reading “Danggit Bai! Danggit Buy!”
