Here’s the second dish we prepared for Christmas eve, Chicken Kebabs with Seasoned Yogurt. Again, I got this recipe from Yummy Magazine, September 2009 issue and I deviated a bit from the original recipe. I marinated the chicken for about 2 hours and added the lemongrass onto the marinade instead of skewing the chicken on the lemongrass stalks. We skewed them on the usual barbeque sticks. I thought that it would be much tastier if the chicken was marinated first before grilling. This is a great party food and can serve 5-10 people (with 2-3 sticks each). Christmas dinner with my mom is done and now I have the time to blog about the simple dishes I cooked for tonight. Since it’s just the 3 of us at home, we decided to cook only 2 simple recipes for us to enjoy. It’s been a tradition that my mom and I cook during the holidays because these are some of the special times that we’re together.
The first dish we cooked is Creamed Tuna and Mushroom Pasta. I got this recipe from Yummy Magazine, September 2009 issue. What I like about the recipes featured in Yummy Magazine is that they have a wide range of recipes to choose from. From the simplest recipe to the hardest one. So here goes… Continue reading “Creamed Tuna and Mushroom Pasta”
We were heading towards Landmark to buy some stuff when we suddenly saw that Gelatissimo in Greenbelt 5 has finally opened. The first time we tried this was in Cebu and the staff there told us that they will be opening a branch in Makati scheduled on December. Now, the long wait is over, it has finally arrived Metro Manila!
Just talked to the owners of the Makati branch and they said that they have just opened a few hours and people were already interested about this new gelato in Manila. Everything looks and tastes the same except that their gelatos are much expensive here than in Cebu.
Gelatissimo is at the 2nd level of Greenbelt 5. It’s near the walkway going to Landmark. You can’t miss it because it’s just beside the Greenbelt 5 entrance from the walkway.
When I was in Legazpi, I announced in Facebook that I was there when suddenly, Denden Villanueva, my grade school batchmate in St. Scho Manila messaged me to visit her restaurant in Daraga. I felt excited about it because it’s been ages since we’ve seen each other. Imagine, we were in prep when we became classmates. I didn’t realize that she’s now managing her family’s restaurant. The restaurant started years ago and was dormant like the Mayon Volcano nearby and just recently opened last May 2009, now with my schoolmate managing it. As I was walking by Swanston Street in Melbourne, I saw a Krispy Kreme kiosk. I didn’t hesitate to buy their original glazed donut because I want to know if there is a difference from the original glazed donuts here in Manila. Well, well, well, to my surprise, it tasted much better! It’s not that sweet compared to the ones we have here. I also noticed that they also have other flavors that are not available here in Manila such as Strawberry Cheesecake, Lime Splice and Crushed Pineapple.
Anyway, 1 original glazed donut costs AUD $2.30 (Php 98 +). For them this is already very cheap!
