Greenwich’s Ultimate Hawaiian Overload

I’m not a fan of Hawaiian pizzas. However, I love how Greenwich “leveled up” their Hawaiian pizza. The Ultimate Hawaiian Overload has more toppings, and more cheese!

And if you do not frequent Greenwich or haven’t tried Greenwich, here are some menu items that you probably thought that are not included.

Pizza Fries

Pizza Fries, solo price: 49 pesos, to share: 89 pesos

There are three flavors of pizza fries to choose from and these are: pepperoni, cheese and garlic. Each serving of pizza fries comes with a pizza sauce dip.

Orange Choco Truffle Cake

The Orange Choco Truffle Cake is one sinful dessert from Greenwich. I recommend this dessert to be shared by a couple or if you are going to eat it by yourself, don’t forget to grab some brewed coffee.

Albay Food Tripping #4: Bigg’s Diner

Bigg’s Diner is one of the biggest food chains in Bicol. By just looking at Bigg’s diner’s interior design, one would easily conclude that it is a 50’s inspired diner.

The food being served at Bigg’s are mostly American dishes. However, we thought of trying the Pork Chop Rice Meal with Laing as a siding just to add some Bicol flavor to it.

The way the Pork Chop Rice Meal was served could have been improved though. I don’t think it’s necessary to use a sizzling plate for this meal. In fact, a simple porcelain plate is already good enough.

We also ordered a serving of Sizzling Tenderloin Tips. This is served with rice and buttered vegetables. I liked the Tenderloin tips better than the Pork Chop Rice Meal.

Perhaps the next time we go to Legazpi City and dine at Bigg’s, we’ll probably try out their pizzas.

Krispy Kreme in Swanston Street, Melbourne

As I was walking by Swanston Street in Melbourne, I saw a Krispy Kreme kiosk. I didn’t hesitate to buy their original glazed donut because I want to know if there is a difference from the original glazed donuts here in Manila. Well, well, well, to my surprise, it tasted much better! It’s not that sweet compared to the ones we have here. I also noticed that they also have other flavors that are not available here in Manila such as Strawberry Cheesecake, Lime Splice and Crushed Pineapple.

Anyway, 1 original glazed donut costs AUD $2.30 (Php 98 +). For them this is already very cheap!

2009 UAAP Final Four Doughnuts

It’s the time of the UAAP season again. Now that we have the final four, Krispy Kreme brings you the 2009 UAAP Final Four Doughnuts. This year’s final four are: Ateneo de Manila University (with blue and white sprinkles on top), University of the East (with red and white sprinkles on top), Far Eastern University (with yellow and green sprinkles on top) and University of Sto. Tomas (with yellow and white sprinkles on top). Enjoy these cake doughnuts while it’s still on sale at Krispy Kreme.

Enjoy Comfort Food at PenPen

PenPen is the restaurant of Ping Medina, the son of the famous actor Pen Medina. The restaurant is located near the corner of Tomas Morato and Scout Castor Sts. and people who hang out in this area is probably looking for some comfort food that would not cost much as the other nearby restaurants.

When we went inside the first time at PenPen restaurant, the first thing I noticed is its homey atmosphere. It’s somewhere where one could hangout during anytime of the day.

Kesong Puti Pandesal, 45 pesos per order

We first tried their Kesong Puti Pandesal as our appetizer. Then, we ordered a Crispy Liempo (PenPen’s bestseller) and Sirloin Tapa with Kesong Puti.

Special Tapa, 130 pesos per order

The pandesal is served hot with a slice of tomato and cucumber with kesong puti. You could have this as an appetizer or enjoy it as a part of your daily afternoon snack.

Crispy Liempo is definitely a must-try at PenPen especially if you’re a first-time customer there. It’s thinly sliced and it’s served to you crunchy. This sinful offering from PenPen goes well with vinegar.

Special Tapa truly deserves to be called such because it’s sirloin cut (more flavor) and also because it’s topped with kesong puti.

By the way, PenPen also offers free Wi-Fi access.

Six Dozen Years of Krispy Kreme

Brunch with Bobby Chinn @ The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day. I love the smell of scrambled eggs, bacon and butter in the morning. But because of my indefinite schedule, I don’t get to eat breakfast anymore and would prefer to have brunch instead. The good thing about brunching is that you can still have the breakfast favorites even though it’s after the breakfast hour (usually until 8 am).

Bobby Chinn, Discovery Travel and Living’s World Cafe star, was able to enlighten me and other members of media about brunching at the event organized by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf 2 weeks ago. It was one of the earliest events that I’ve ever attended but since it’s Bobby Chinn, what the heck, I’ll wake up early for him. How often would you get to see and hear Bobby Chinn in flesh? Anyway, he candidly talked about brunching and how it can be interesting for us.One thing I never knew about Bobby Chinn is that he was a stand-up comedian. He was so perky that morning and I can’t believe I was listening to a stand-up comedy at 11:00 am on a Saturday.

Moving forward, not everybody knows that Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf offers brunch meals to its customers. I usually neglect this but upon tasting the Salmon Scramble during the event, I didn’t realize that it was good. When you order a brunch meal (Brek O’Day, Salmon Scramble or Eggs Ben), it already comes with a free cup of brewed coffee or tea. The good thing also about their breakfast selections is that it’s available all day long so if you’re craving to have eggs for dinner, that’s fine. It’s just too bad that CBTL only has a few brnch selections in their menu. I hope that they add some more items in the menu to choose from.

Krispy Kreme’s Classic Peanut Butter and Stripes Doughnut

Krispy Kreme’s latest sweet treat is the Classic Peanut Butter and Stripes doughnut which is a combination of peanut butter kreme and the classic Reese’s Peanut Butter and is topped with graham cracker crunch and striped with caramel or chocolate.

This should be a great treat for all dads this coming Father’s Day (this coming Sunday).

We just tried this doughnut a few days ago (thanks to GMCI and Krispy Kreme ). We are not fans of peanut butter, but we both liked it. I guess it’s because that they used a cake doughnut on this one.

You can also give your dad a coffee tumbler from Krispy Kreme.

Brothers Burger Launches Their Wagyu Burger

Brothers Burger is celebrating its 10th year anniversary of providing the best and quality burgers in town. This is a reason to celebrate and make a mark in the burger business here in the Philippines by launching its Wagyu Burger. Wagyu is the considered the most tender among all kinds of beefs because the cattle adopt a different feeding and breeding techniques (from Japan). Brothers Burger supplier of Wagyu Beef is Snake River Farms from the United States.

Also the patty itself wasn’t bland in fact, it can be eaten all by itself minus the condiments. I was struggling to finish mine (and mind you, I haven’t had any meal that day).

When you’re working 8 hours a day, don’t you want something decent to eat for lunch? I have experienced being at work and not eating a decent lunch meal and have to resort to fast food. During this time of recession, we still deserve to eat a decent meal with a much lower price. This is the reason Italianni’s launched the “Small Price for a Big Lunch” promo so that we can experience great food cheaper than the usual Italianni’s ala carte meal. There are 5 meals to choose from and are available for craving foodtrippers Mondays to Fridays 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The promo has already started (I already had mine today until May 31st. Hope they’ll continue this promo forever .

Manzo di Arrosto (Roasted Rib Eye) at Php 350 *served only at Trinoma, Boni High Street and Greenbelt

We got to try all of the dishes. Each meal is served with spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables on the side. Italianni’s is known for its big servings and to tell you the truth, 2 people can actually share 1 meal here (probably order an appetizer or pizza on the side ).

Spiedo del Pollo Dei Pesci (Fish and Chicken Skewer) at Php 295

Pesci in Vino Bianco ( Fish Fillet in White Wine) at Php 295

Actually, almost all of them tasted good but my most favorite is Pesci in Vino Bianco and Manzo di Arrosto (rib eye steak). The prior (fish fillet) is very light to your tummy so for the people who are conscious of the food that they eat, this is one good choice. I liked the way the Dory fish was cooked; the fish remained firm. On the other hand the rib eye steak was very tender and tasty. Though I was a bit disappointed as it looked big in the picture but the real thing isn’t. This dish is only available at Italianni’s Trinoma, Boni High Street and Greenbelt the reason for this is because the steak requires slow cooking and not all branches have the equipment for that. Other branches offer Marinata del Manzo di Arrosto (Beef Pot Roast). I tried it this lunch time and it tasted almost the same as the roasted rib eye but it has a different texture (obviously because it’s a different part of the beef!).

Costina Brasatta (Braised Ribs) at Php 350

I liked everything actually except for this one, Costina Brasatta. It tasted like your normal caldereta but I appreciated the fact that it was very tender. The meat was easily detached from the bone.

Birthday Ice Cream Cake

Since it’s a food tasting event, Italianni’s also gave us complimentary desserts. Someone squealed that it was my birthday last February and that’s why there was a Birthday Ice Cream Cake. I just came in to the room then suddenly the crew entered singing the birthday song (I think you know how they sing their birthday song ). We were first all wondering who it was for then suddenly they gave the cake to me. I was surprised and was laughing all throughout their singing because my birthday was 3 weeks ago (during the time of this event)! Anyway, I still appreciated the delay birthday song . Another funny thing was that I was wearing the same red shirt I was wearing during my birthday when I won the laptop from SM Marikina Wi-fi event. That red shirt seemed like my lucky shirt. I should wear it all the time. Haha.

Anyway going back to the desserts, actually they served us more than what you are seeing in the picture. I couldn’t even remember the others. All I could say that they were all delicious and I felt butterflies in my stomach as I looked at each dessert.

New York Cheesecake

I wasn’t even able to eat this New York Cheesecake swimming in Strawberry Syrup ;(. Anyway, that’s fine, it looked really good.
