Basil Mojito

Simple Mojito

Mojito is my most favorite cocktail ever. It is a popular Cuban drink usually made of white rum, sugar cane, sparkling water and mint. What I like with Mojito is the combination of sweetness and citrus taste with a little kick of rum. It is very refreshing and a great way to enjoy it with your family and friends. I found a simple Mojito recipe in the Yummy Magazine December issue and decided to have this as our cocktail drink for our New Year’s celebration.

What you will be needing are fresh basil leaves, white rhum and white cola.

Then mash the fresh basil leaves so that the flavors will really come out. You can use a spoon to mash the leaves. Place it in a glass then pour in 45 mL of white rum and a splash of white cola. I used Bacardi and Sprite (it’s much sweeter). You can also squeeze a lemon wedge for more flavor.

This can serve only one person so if you will be drinking with a group, just multiply the amount of white rum and adjust the white cola and basil according to your preferred taste.

Mojito Goodness at Friday’s

Classic Mojito ( Php 165)

Mojito is a refreshing Cuban drink. It’s a mixture of white rum, sugar, lime, carbonated water and mint. I usually drink Mojitos when I don’t want to drink beer ( and feel a bit girly I guess :) ) One place you can have some refreshingly good mojitos is in TGI Friday’s.

Strawberry Mojito ( Php 185)

The Strawberry Mojito is also a must try at Friday’s. It’s a bit sweet but stil has the Classic Mojito kick. It’s good that Friday’s serve it in a medium-tall glass so it’s worth your money.

San Miguel Oktoberfest: 120 days of Beer Drinking Fiesta

It has been a yearly tradition for Filipinos to celebrate the Oktoberfest. This year, San Miguel will be doing something different, not your usual Oktoberfest. Last night, we were invited to the press launch of San Miguel Oktoberfest. I know you guys are excited of what’s in store for this much awaited event this year.

First, the limited edition San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer will be unveiled to the public on the start of the beer drinking fiesta. We were able to taste it and it’s really good. It’s not that bitter and it’s between a San Mig Pale Pilsen and San Mig Light. The operative word here is that it’s LIMITED so you have to taste this one before it’s too late!

Second, San Miguel Pale Pilsen will be attempting to break 2 Guiness World Records: Longest beer bar and Most number of people toasting. The beer bar will be at San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas from Julia Vargas to Lourdes Avenue ( that would be 600 meters).

Third, ( and I really intended this to be the last) is that Third Eye Blind will be performing for the Opening of the Oktoberfest together with 40 other local bands. There will be a simultaneous launching from different parts of the Philippines in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, Olongapo and Sta. Rosa City.
