Zong Redefines Dining Experience

Roasted Lacquered Chicken at Zong

Sometimes when we go out for lunch or dinner with my parents and siblings on a weekend, we’d go to The Fort and eat at Zong. We love eating at Zong because of the good food and it’s reasonably priced. 🙂 When I received the invitation from Zong to try out some new dishes, I didn’t hesitate at all. 🙂

Chinese-style Chicken Salad at Zong

First first served us with the Chinese-style Chicken Salad. The salad has the typical greens, bell peppers, tomatoes, carrots, jellyfish and some strips of chicken. Its dressing is sesame vinaigrette. I love salads with vinaigrette as a dressing. 🙂 I also enjoyed its generous amount of chicken strips.

Home-made meat roll with orange sauce at Zong

At Zong, we call this dish home-made meat roll, but in the streets, we call it “kikiam”. Kikiam is a typical Chinese street food. They redefined eating kikiam by using quality ground meat without tiny bits of fat and by pouring some orange sauce on it.

Fujian-style fried rice at Zong
Fujian-style fried rice, 288 pesos

As for our rice, they served us a Fujian-style fried rice. For me, this was just too heavy for the dishes that were served to us. I would have preferred to have the steamed fried rice because I think there’s too much sauce already. But if you’re going to order fried dishes, then I’d recommend you to get the Fujian-style fried rice. 🙂

Dumplings with Black vinegar sauce at Zong

The dumplings with black vinegar sauce may have looked familiar which reminded me of Yen Yen Taiwanese Street Food and Mien San but I cannot really compare the it to the two restaurants’ spicy wonton. I actually enjoyed eating dumplings in black vinegar sauce because I love black vinegar. 😀

Braised Shanghai style meatball

Just like the home-made meat rolls, the braised Shanghai-style meatballs do not have tiny bits of fat.

Steamed Zucchini in Pumpkin Sauce at Zong
Steamed Zucchini in Pumpkin Sauce, 389 pesos

The Steamed Zucchini in Pumpkin Sauce is one of my top favorites. As you can see in the picture, the steamed zucchini is at the bottom of a steamed shrimp smothered with pumpkin sauce.

Lastly, the Roasted Lacquered Chicken is so good, you won’t need the sauce that goes with it. The chicken that they use is Bounty Fresh.
