in the 60’s they said that the palaman of siopao is pusa. I dont believe them, I frequent the place in Quiapo area after watching a floor show in Clover Theatre and order a bowl of beef mami and a special siopao. I concentrated of finishing what I have ordered. Masarap, sabi nila madumi daw, masarap naman. The stinky smell and a slim chinese with wearing white sando from a kitchen and a white polo shirt waiter with a toothpick in his mouth is the trade mark of MAMONLUK during those days. Today, whenever, I go to Quiapo, I did not forget to visit the place, however, I cannot finish a bowl of special mami anymore, I just order a special siopao and ask for a small bowl of soup.

Went to Ma Mon Luk twice, unfortunately, sarado na sila, I think that was around 11pm and 9pm respectively, sana bukas sila ’til 12, or until 3am. Pero naabutan ko naman silang bukas mga hapon, ‘kala ko nga sarado na yung Ma Mon Luk sa Q ave, kasi parang ang aga magsara, pero yun nga bukas pa pala, at ngayon namimiss ko siopao nila…

I’m 42 years old. when I was a kid, my father and I used to eat at Ma Mon Luk in Cubao after watching movie at Coronet. My Mom told me na ipinaglihi daw ako sa siopao ng Ma Mon Luk dun sa Quiapo.. no wonder, I’m chubby.

My mother introduced me to Ma Mon Luk in the late 50s. They were the only restaurant then that will give an extra bowl of scrumptious beef soup (even without asking!) with my (regular) siopao and siomai with soup order. And the extra “kalamansi” was always graciousy given. I was also awed by their specially delicious thick brown siopao sauce that I also use as “sawsawan” for my siomai dumpling. I hope the younger Ma Mon Luk generation keep the stores alive to serve the customers craving for good, inexpensive Chinese food.

for me, its one of the best tasting mami and siopao in the philippines. been eating there since i was a kid and always craving for it. for those who have not tried it, please do and experience ma mon luk.

from what i know masuki is not renamed ma mon luk masuki is from another restaurant makong mami

gosh!!! its family’s best ever favorite…we”ve been eating there since were young…my grandfather introduced that to my father and my father brought us there and now im bringing my daughter and the taste has’nt change….keep up the good work!
