The difference between Pizza Hut and Pizza Hut Bistro

Paella at Pizza Hut Bistro
Paella

Prior to dining at Pizza Hut Bistro, I was already intrigued by how’s the menu offering different from the regular Pizza Hut. Upon entering the restaurant at Gateway, I was impressed with the ambiance. The restaurant has a set of mood lights and much larger tables covered with cloth. On top of a table is a vase with an anthurium which made me think of funerals. Continue reading →

Seafood at Aling Mahsya

Sugpo
Shopping for Sugpo at Dampa along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue.

Seafood lovers would call Diosdoda Macapagal Avenue their haven. Prior to the restaurants found along the area, there’s the famous Dampa at Paranaque City. And there was Seafood Market which is also like Dampa-style (you even have to shop also for the vegetables aside from the seafood itself). Just like any Dampa-style restaurant, the first thing that you have to do is to market for the seafood. Continue reading →

Ziggurat: Indian, Mediterranean, African and Mideast Cuisine

zig6.jpg

“Ziggurat” is derived from the Assyrian term ziqquratu which means ‘high’. The word Ziggurat actually means temple ( like the ones in the Mesopotamian times).

This restaurant is located in Sunette Tower, Durban St. cor Makati Ave in Makati ( it’s actually near P. Burgos St). They’re open 24 hours by the way so if you’re craving for some authentic kebabs at the middle of the night, this is the place to go. We actually went there at 3 am, after having a round of drinks in Greenbelt 2.

The place is actually cozy and simple. It’s a bit small so it’s better to call for reservation if you’re more than 5 people. They have an open area and an enclosed area. You could also have some hookah there. Continue reading →

Alfredo’s Steak house in Tomas Morato, QC

Since it’s Mother’s Day, I decided to treat my mom for dinner in this restaurant that we are so familiar with. This was the place where my mom and dad used to date ( of course before I was born) and until I was growing up we frequent to this steak house whenever we are craving for steaks.

Alfredo’s Steak house has been one of the “institutions” in the steak industry in Manila. It doesn’t have any branches, probably they want to maintain the quality of their food. As you know, when restaurants expand the quality of food tend to deteriorate. They are situated along Tomas Morato, QC. They have a big red sign on top of the restaurant, you wouldn’t miss that. The dining area is in the 2nd floor. Continue reading →

Cyma Estiatorio at Greenbelt 2

Hummous
Hummous

We celebrated Mother’s day at Cyma Estiatorio in Greenbelt 2 since Mom is craving for something Greek. :D For our appetizer, we had Hummous (which is really spelled as Hummus but they spelled it that way in the menu) served with 2 pita breads (each pita bread divided into four). Hummous is a dip made of mashed chickpeas (garbanzos) blended with tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Continue reading →

Lasa Manila at Podium

Bicol Express
Bicol Express

Lasa Manila is actually a sister company of Masas. We tried their Bicol Express, Nilasing na Hipon and Baked Tahong which has the same pricing scheme with Masas and has the same pictures in the menu (based from our observation). Continue reading →

Maki Mi Sushi at SM Megamall

19 pieces of sushi and maki

Yearning for Japanese food yet you want something that could fit in your 100-peso budget? Well, this 19 pieces of assorted sushi and maki that costs 99 pesos from Maki Mi Sushi is a must try. We discovered it in the heart of SM Megamall’s food court. The largest serving consists of 150 pieces of assorted sushi and maki which costs PhP 780.00. But if you like only 4 or 5 pieces, the cost is from PhP 25.00 to PhP 30.00. :) Continue reading →

Mr. Kabab

I’ve been hearing raves about this restaurant from most of my friends and finally I was able to dine there just a few days ago with my St. Scho friends. Mr. Kabab is now located in West Ave. QC, before they were located in Quezon Ave. ( but near West Ave, just moved a few blocks away). They’re much bigger now because whenever I pass by their old location it’s much smaller. Continue reading →

Chocolate Kiss Cafe in UP Diliman

The Chocolate Kiss Cafe is located at the Bahay ng Alumni ( R. Magsaysay St.) in UP Diliman, (first and second floor of the building). The difference between the 2 is that in the first floor, it is located outside the Bahay ng Alumni and closes early while the second floor is a more of a “date place” because there are performers in the evening thrice a week ( acoustic, piano/ guitar solo, etc..). The Chocolate Kiss Cafe opened in 1997, the second floor resto was the first then they opened the first floor area. Now they have their third branch, still in QC which is in Roces Ave ( in Pantranco). Continue reading →

Ilocos’s Royal Bibingka

The first and last time I went to Ilocos ( that was 2 or 3 years ago), I came across this Ilocos delicacy called Royal Bibingka. Of course, as a first time tourist I am up to the challenge of tasting the specialties of a particular location.

“Bibingka” is rice cake in English. The Royal Bibingka is not your usual kind of bibingka. It’s not puffy like Ferino’s, it’s actually sticky. This delicacy reminds me of gummy bears or better yet, tikoy ;) .

abcd0018.JPGThe one that I have here is from Marsha’s Delicacies. According to Torn’s blog, Tongson’s was the first royal bibingka maker in Ilocos then the Sister’s came. Marsha’s was just a late bloomer but is vastly becoming one of the visitors’ and Ilocanos’ favorites as well.
